In his first action of the season for the New York City FC first team, Luis Barraza (Marquette) made five saves for the clean sheet in a 0-0 draw, then saved Ronaldo Cisneros’ penalty as the Pigeons beat Liga MX side Querétaro FC 4-3 in a shootout in a Leagues Cup match Sunday night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The 27-year-old, who made one appearance for NYCFC II earlier this month, dove to his left to deny Cisneros and give NYCFC an extra point in the Group L standings.

Captain Nick Raasch (Wausau West) broke a tie in the 63rd minute, and Sergio Camargo (Colby) added two late goals as Lobos FC avenged their only loss of the season and repeated as Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League champions by surging past the NRFC Cyclones 5-2 in the league’s playoff final Sunday afternoon at Bollinger Field in Eau Claire. Goals by Eli Szymanski (La Crosse Logan) and Jaime Rios Olivas staked Lobos (10-1-1) to a 2-0 halftime lead against the first-year New Richmond side, which beat them 4-2 on June 23. But league MVP and Golden Boot winner Cohan Hare (New Richmond) converted a penalty early in the second half, then pulled the Cyclones (10-2-0) level at 2-2 in the 62nd minute when he converted a feed from Croix Hare (New Richmond) for his 23rd goal of the season. Moments later, though, Raasch’s pressure in the box led to a goal after a failed clearance to quickly put Lobos back on top, and Camargo sealed their title with his brace in the final 15 minutes. NRFC Cyclones 2:5 Lobos FCMorais Lee scored twice as AFC Roscoe doubled up the host Green Bay Glory 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Banta Bowl in Appleton to win the Midwest Premier League Heartland Conference Division 2 title. The Glory (8-4-0) could have claimed the championship in their inaugural season by winning the season finale, but the Illinois side also got a goal from Lyndon Hu and an own goal to finish on 29 points — five ahead of Green Bay. Both teams had already clinched promotion to the MWPL Division 1 for the 2025 season. MWPL standings below
Captain Bret Dietz converted a penalty kick as Bavarian United tied Chicago House AC 1-1 in their MWPL season finale Sunday afternoon at Heartland Value Fund Stadium in Glendale. The Bavarians (6-2-2) will finish second or third in Division 1, depending on the result of next Saturday’s finale between first-place RWB Adria and third-place House. MWPL standings below
Inter Detroit posted a statement Sunday night on its social media accounts announcing that it has withdrawn from the NISA Independent Cup and won’t play FC Milwaukee Torrent in the Great Lakes Region final. In the statement (below), the Michigan club expressed frustration with the Torrent being granted the right to host the match and the timeline of when the game could be played. The teams met in Independent Cup Great Lakes Region group play last year, with Inter Detroit winning 2-1 in Farmington Hills, Mich.
