Senior Nathan Donovan (Hazel Green), who came into the weekend as the NCAA Division III national leader in goals, recorded his third consecutive hat trick — with all of the goals coming in a 23-minute span in the first half — as No. 17 UW-Eau Claire rolled to a 4-1 victory over visiting UW-Superior on Saturday.
Donovan scored in the 11th, 17th and 34th minutes to take his goal tally to 11 on the season, then provided an assist as freshman Owen Backus (Elkhorn) scored his first collegiate goal in the 48th for the Blugolds (5-0-1).

The host Phoenix (5-2-0) scored four goals in a 21-minute span in the first half, and five players each had a hand in two goals as Green Bay trounced the Titans (1-5-0) in a Horizon League opener at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Junior Chris Album had two goals — he has four goals in his past four matches — seniors Kolton Prater (Hudson) and Josh Johansen had two assists apiece and senior So Nishikawa and sophomore Luke Nicholson each added a goal and an assist to help the Phoenix win their fifth in a row after starting the year with two losses.Purdue-Fort Wayne 2:0 UW-Milwaukee
Senior Shane Anderson scored twice in the first half, giving him five goals in the past two games, and goalkeeper Nic Diana posted his third straight clean sheet as the Mastodons (3-2-1) blanked the Panthers (2-1-2) in a Horizon League opener in Fort Wayne, Ind. The match included 39 fouls and 10 yellow cards, and UWM keeper Daniel Ibarra received a red card in the 90th minute — junior defender Colin Mullen (Wauwatosa West) played the final 38 seconds in goal.

Saturday’s highlights
Sophomore midfielder Aubree Caya (Oregon) set up the opener and scored her third goal of the season to snap a tie in the 74th minute as seventh-ranked UW-La Crosse got past Dubuque (Iowa) 2-1. Caya has recorded a goal or assist in five of six games for the Eagles (6-0-0), who fired 25 shots (14 shots on goal) en route to their 16th consecutive home win. Senior forward Emma Kober (Waukesha Catholic Memorial) had the assist on the goal for the Spartans (3-1-1).
Sophomore Alyssa Klementzos (Westosha Central) scored both goals, the first on a penalty, as host Ripon blanked Martin Luther (Minn.) 2-0 for its first win of the season. Junior Britt Hable (Oshkosh West) and senior Andreanna Wilke (Wausau West) combined on the clean sheet for the Red Hawks (1-3-2).

Tom Barlow (UW) scored the opener as the host Chicago Fire defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-1 in Major League Soccer play Saturday night.
Barlow tapped in the rebound after Hugo Cuypers’ shot was saved but not held by Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel in the 31st minute. It was Barlow’s first goal for the Fire, who acquired him from the Red Bulls in an offseason trade — he had 14 goals in 123 appearances in all competitions in five seasons with New York.

Garrett McLaughlin had a brace and trialists scored the other three goals as Forward Madison FC defeated Midwest Premier League side Chicago House AC 5-2 in a friendly watched by 3,719 fans Saturday night at Breese Stevens Field. Based on information from UPSL club Chicago Nation, the trialists who scored for the Flamingos were Zakhar Shkidchenko and Mounir Alami.
