UW defenders Ella Ottey and Jadea Collin were named to Canada’s roster for the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, which starts Aug. 31 in Colombia.
Ottey, a sophomore who played in 22 of 23 games as a freshman for the Badgers last fall, started and Collin came off the bench in her collegiate debut as UW lost 1-0 to BYU last Thursday in Utah.
The Canadian Under-20 will hold a five-day training camp in Bogotá starting Thursday before traveling to Medellín for their first Group B match Aug. 31 against France. The Canadians also will play Fiji on Sept. 3 and Brazil on Sept. 6 in group play.
Ottey and Collin likely will miss a minimum of five UW games and possibly as many as eight, depending on how far Canada advances in the tournament, which concludes with the final on Sept. 22 in Bogotá.
